The Alpinestars Tech-Air® MX Airbag System is an advanced airbag system specifically for motocross and supercross. Based on decades of experience in MotoGP and the Dakar Rally, as well as data from professional MX riders, it offers fast, precise, and reliable protection. Compact, autonomous, and integrated into a lightweight chest protector, it protects the upper body without restricting freedom of movement. Four selectable riding modes ensure maximum safety and versatility on every track.

Key features of the Tech-Air® MX

Bluetooth: Gas cartridge can be replaced by the user after deployment. The airbag system must only be sent in for service after the 6th deployment.

Functionality & Safety

The Tech-Air® MX provides comprehensive airbag protection for the shoulders, chest, and back, and delivers more than four times the impact protection of conventional passive protectors. The CE-certified airbag (Category II, EN1621-4:2013) fully deploys within 40 ms to 5 s after an impact. The system is certified for up to six deployments, provided the airbag remains undamaged. Active protection is complemented by a CE Level 1 chest and back protector with adjustable straps for a perfect fit. Three accelerometers and three gyroscopes in the ECU ensure precise crash detection even under dynamic MX conditions.

Transport & Storage

A transport lock switch on the ECU puts the system into sleep mode. This completely disconnects the battery from the system – for air travel, long-term storage, or shipping. Upon delivery, the airbag system is in shipping mode and must be activated before first use (by operating the switch).
