Alpinestars Tech-Air® 5 Plasma Airbag System

Motorcycle airbag vest for street, off-road & racetrack

The Alpinestars Tech-Air® 5 Plasma Airbag System is the latest generation of Alpinestars' multi-award-winning motorcycle airbag vest. Weighing approx. 1.5 kg, it is over 25% lighter than the previous model and provides reliable protection for the chest, ribs, shoulders, and back. Thanks to its three riding modes (Street, Off-Road, and Race), the system is universally applicable – whether on the road, off-road, or on the track.

Riding modes at a glance

OFF-ROAD mode:
Developed specifically for off-road and enduro use.
RACE mode:
Perfect for the racetrack and sporty riding on asphalt.
STREET mode:
Ideal for touring and everyday use on asphalt roads.

Key features of the Tech-Air® 5 Plasma

Maximum protection – comprehensive coverage of the upper body, shoulders, ribs, and back
Lightweight & comfortable – only approx. 1,500 g, slim design, barely noticeable under a motorcycle jacket
3 riding modes – Street, Off-Road & Race for all areas of use
Integrated back protector – Nucleon PLASMA CE protector included as standard
Long battery life – up to 30 hours of riding time per battery charge
Bluetooth & App – full control over system status, battery level, and updates
CE-certified – complies with the highest European safety standards
Low-maintenance – gas cartridge can be replaced yourself after deployment. The airbag system only needs to be sent in for service after the 6th deployment.

Functionality & safety

The integrated sensors continuously monitor riding conditions and activate the airbag only in the event of an accident. The riding modes can be easily changed via the LED display on the front of the vest or conveniently via the Tech-Air® app.

After deployment, the system is immediately ready for use again once the gas cartridge has been replaced. Servicing by the manufacturer is only required after 6 deployments.

Please note: Neck brace systems are not compatible with the Tech-Air® system.

Transport & storage

A transport safety switch on the ECU puts the system into sleep mode. This completely disconnects the battery from the system – for air travel, long-term storage, or shipping. Upon delivery, the airbag system is in shipping mode and must be activated before first use (by operating the switch).

Conclusion

The Alpinestars Tech-Air® 5 Plasma is one of the most modern and versatile motorcycle airbag vests on the market. Weighing only approx. 1.5 kg, it is extremely light, offers state-of-the-art protective technology, and is equally suitable for street, off-road, and racetrack use. This makes it the ideal choice for safety-conscious motorcyclists who want to combine uncompromising protection with maximum comfort.
