F2R Y1000 Digital Roadbook Navigation – The New Era of (Roadbook) Navigation

The F2R Y1000 Digital Roadbook Navigation marks a revolutionary step in the world of navigation, particularly rally navigation.

Developed for off-road enthusiasts and professional rally riders, this innovative roadbook system combines cutting-edge technology, reliability, and user-friendliness in a compact design.

Although the Y1000 was specifically developed for rally navigation, its Android operating system makes it open to other navigation apps such as DMD2, OsmAnd, Google Maps, Waze, and many more.
So, it is fair to say: The Y1000 combines the best of both worlds.

During the 3.5-year development period, the Y1000 was tested under the most extreme conditions and on the toughest rallies. Over 55,000 test kilometers were covered in the process.
We at THATS-RALLY were also involved as beta testers – our experience with the prototype has been incorporated into the final product.

Even if the Y1000 looks like a normal tablet at first glance, we can assure you: it is not! This proprietary development by roadbook equipment professionals F2R takes a different approach than conventional tablets.
Here, the focus is on uncompromising functionality and operational reliability.

Housing: Fully CNC-machined aluminum housing, developed for maximum durability
Display glass: 4 mm thick glass that withstands even heavy impacts and helmet strikes.
Display format: 4:3 format, which corresponds exactly to the shape of an A5 paper roadbook, for optimal functionality.

Operating system: Android 13, fully customized by F2R to ensure maximum functionality.
Roadbook software: Integrates up to two odometers, a CAP header, a speedometer with customizable warnings, and a waypoint arrow for the most comprehensive navigation experience.
Third-party apps: Install various navigation apps, import GPX tracks, and download offline maps with ease.
GPS: High-performance GPS with a refresh rate of up to 25 Hz and a positioning accuracy (CEP) of less than one meter.
Power management: The integrated F2R power management system warns of rapid battery consumption or other power issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Remote control: The separately available DR001 Remote automatically adapts its functionality to every app and allows for easy control of roadbook applications, navigation, GPS, and even music apps.

Is the F2R Y1000 exclusively suitable for roadbooks?

No. Although the Y1000 was developed specifically for rally navigation, it features an Android operating system.

You can therefore also use other navigation apps such as DMD2, OsmAnd, or Google Maps to follow GPX tracks, for example.

However, its real strength lies in digital roadbook navigation. If you mainly use maps and would like to use your device regularly away from the motorcycle, a classic Android navigation tablet might be more practical.

Do I need an additional tripmaster with the Y1000?

Usually not.

The Y1000 was designed so that you can display the roadbook, tripmaster, CAP, waypoints, and other rally information on the screen simultaneously.

The 4:3 format offers significantly better conditions for this than the wide displays of many conventional tablets.

Especially in demanding roadbook rallies, this is one of the biggest advantages of the Y1000 for us.

What makes the Y1000 particularly robust?

The device features a CNC-machined aluminum housing and an especially durable protective screen.

Heat dissipation has also been designed for continuous use at high display brightness.

We don't just know the Y1000 from the technical documentation: THATS-RALLY was involved as a beta tester during the development phase. Our experience with the prototype also influenced the finished product.

Can I use the Y1000 without a motorcycle power supply?

The Y1000 does not have an internal battery and therefore always requires an external power supply.

A suitable power adapter is available for use at home or in a hotel.

The device is also designed more for fixed mounting on the motorcycle. Although it can be detached, it is not intended to be a tablet that you constantly take out of its mount.

What is the GammaBox?

The GammaBox is the removable Android unit of the Y1000.

It allows stored data and software to be transferred to another compatible Y1000 housing.

This is particularly interesting for rally use, for example, if a damaged device needs to be replaced quickly.
