X-TREME Shock Absorber Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin 2016-2017, TracTive

The TracTive X-TREME is a high-quality, fully adjustable shock absorber featuring an external reservoir and PDSII bottoming-out protection.

The damping configuration was developed specifically for the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin. Rebound and compression damping can be adjusted independently of each other. The compression damping also features separate high- and low-speed adjustment.

The external reservoir provides a larger oil volume and better heat dissipation. As a result, damping performance remains as consistent as possible even under high loads, such as on long off-road stretches.

The shock absorber is available as the X-TREME + HPA, which includes hydraulic spring preload adjustment via a handwheel.

Adjustment options

• Rebound damping: approx. 18 clicks
• Low-speed compression damping: adjustment of damping during slow compression movements, such as when accelerating or on long, sweeping undulations
• High-speed compression damping: adjustment of damping during fast compression movements, such as when hitting potholes or hard terrain edges
• Spring preload: mechanical, on the shock absorber

PDSII bottoming-out protection

The PDSII system works with an additional piston that generates progressive damping towards the end of the suspension travel. This reduces hard bottoming out during heavy impacts or jumps.

Available height

For the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin, the shock absorber is available exclusively with a 15 mm ride height increase. At standard height, the shock absorber is available as the X-CITE + HPA or X-TREME + HPA.

We recommend matching the suspension height of the front and rear wheels. Ideally, the shock absorber should be combined with an appropriately adjusted fork cartridge.

Individual tuning

We will tune the shock absorber to your rider weight and intended use before delivery.

For this, we simply require your rider weight including motorcycle gear and a brief note on your primary area of use (road, touring, off-road, etc.).

The shock absorber comes standard with a 95 N/mm spring. Depending on your rider weight and intended use, softer or harder springs are also available.
